This was a team project I worked on with three other classmates at VFS: Hendy Sukarya, Aaron Chiesa and Toru Kageyama. My main roles in this project were project management, visual design, and 3D animation.
The goal for this project as motion designers was to compliment an informative and powerful script by using subtle yet engaging imagery. Although we took inspiration from sources such as the recent animated film Persepolis, we created all of our own assets by photographing live subjects and tracing them in illustrator. That way we were able to achieve the exact look that we were aiming for.
The infographic was featured on several websites including Motionographer, BoingBoing and Andrew Sullivan’s ‘The Daily Dish’. It was also nominated for awards in many film festivals around the world including Cannes Internation Film Festival 2009 and Toronto International Film Festival 2010. Our team was awarded Best Motion Design and Best Team Project at VFS.
